2007 Pork Industry Handbook Now Available

Purdue unveils a complete, up-to date 1,296-page resource on the pork industry.

The 2007 Pork Industry Handbook is now available to producers, educators and agribusiness owners looking for the latest information on efficient swine production.

"The Pork Industry Handbook is a convenient way to quickly access the latest information on pork production right off the shelf," says Alan Sutton, a Purdue University animal science professor. "It's a complete resource that has been reviewed by national experts in the field."

The handbook, by Purdue Extension and the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence, includes swine experts from Purdue and around the nation with information on topics like swine production, management, health, environment and finances.

Some specific subjects covered include ways to improve rate of gain, current research on breeding and genetics, swine nutrition and health, reproduction, pork quality, human resources, animal behavior and welfare issues, business and financial management, marketing, pork safety, youth projects, worker health and safety, and statistics.

The handbook is available in a 1,296-page, black-and-white print version for $90 or on a full-color DVD for $45. A set of both versions may be purchased for a special rate of $115. Prices do not include shipping.
